The last screenshot is weird, to me, for a different reason, his ears. Mickey’s ear always made the two-eared silhouette. In cartoons and other games his ears will move around to very weird position to make the stay in view. It looks strange to see the profile of them.

I don't totally hate the new look bit I also don't think it's really an improvement.  That being said, this is one of my all time favorite console games, so if class progression and enemy AI are notably improved it'll be cool.
