More people have iPhones than any one of the consoles... probably more than ALL the consoles, I’d wager. If you wouldn’t batt your eye at this being a console exclusive, not sure why it being iPhone exclusive gets you in a twist. “I wish this phone game wasn’t on phones because I want to play it but don’t like phone

So... use it, if you want to play the games that are on it? I mean, that’s how a service goes from something no one uses, to one that people do: by having things unique to it that people want.

Why is there all this hate on Apple Arcade? I hate wading into the morass of buying individual phone games, what’s so bad about a service that gives you access to a curated selection of fully developed ones that aren’t loaded with spammy popups and weird monetization?

The criminalization of violating software terms of service as if it’s real theft is something that worries me. Kinda feels like the State operating as the enforcement arm of corporations, creepy stuff. I get that the context for that is different in China than it is in the US or EU, but we’ve seen similar stuff in the

I’m team mask4ever. The ability to hide acne and food in my teeth has been great, and not getting sick is a fun side benefit too I guess.

It takes me like 3 days to download an AC or FFVII. By the time I’m ready to roll, the sunk cost fallacy desperation is REAL

This dude has no obligation to be this transparent. This dude has no obligation to pay his team at the level he does, or to make charitable donations, or to go out of his way to discourage excessive subscriptions and undercut performative donations from his fans. He says things like “I’m happy to pay my taxes...I’m

Hi internet expert! You’re likely wrong, and taxes are complicated, so maybe chill? https://www.irs.gov/charities-non-profits/charitable-organizations/charitable-contribution-deductions

Wait... is the person who made these really 14?! This is good.

Canabalt was a Kongregate thing for me!

Yeah, the dude sucks, and YouTube shouldn’t host it. But for those who are describing this as criminal, or calling for him to be punished...? journalistic standards aren’t laws, they’re best practices for professionals. This guy ain’t that.

Filming is not whipping out a gun, or exerting force over others. It’s no different from watching something with your own eyes, and then being insensitive in how you describe it to other people. Guy sounds like a douche bag, but recklessly filming victims of a crime may be insensitive, but it’s not criminal.

Journalistic standards set by the industry are good, as controls on industry participants who enjoy the privilege, power, and perceived authority of that industry. But I’m not sure I want journalistic standards being enforced individually on everyone with a phone camera. I’m all for publishers and service providers

Accusing cereal of being soggy (it isn’t? it cronches?), but then saying that you enjoy microwaved moistened grape nuts (which are v. soggy), is.... some kind of take.

Did they ever fix the progression freeze in Valhalla, with the paint pots? I haven’t gotten around to picking it back up, waiting for that to fix.

It’s not presented as evidence in an article, and requires no scrutiny. It’s just a sample of the kind of buzz that lead Ari to being interested in writing a PS5 article, instead of an XSX article. Ari’s motivations for writing the article don’t need to be scrutinized this heavily.

Transparency? Accountability? The editorial decision was made to write about PS5 shortages. They did so, reporting interesting information with sources. That they did not choose to write a different, broader/longer article has nothing to do with transparency or accountability, regardless of their thought process. If

Reading up on this more, I’m willing to accept that Dark Alliance is not actually within the same series as Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance I and II like I had assumed. So, they’re not successors within the same series after all, and “spiritual successor” could be an appropriate thing to call it... and seems to be

But like... it DOESN’T bill itself as a spiritual successor, because it’s an ACTUAL sequel within the same franchise. That’s just not what those words mean. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spiritual_successor

A “spiritual successor” is a thing. A “successor in name only” is a thing. A “spiritual successor in name only” is not a thing.
