An ex-boyfriend of mine was atheist but was trying to find some spirituality. His father was raised Jewish so he went to one of the Jewish groups on campus. They immediately asked him that question, because he was blonde and blue-eyed, and had a German last name - and when he responded that it was his dad who was

Are medical providers only mandated to report child abuse, but not domestic violence?

This is incredibly brave of these women - probably torpedoed their post-school careers, and now you can bet they're on a List.

@KayKins: Agreed - it's these people's jobs to look a certain way, and it's a full-time job in certain ways. I'm certainly glad I can wear a bathing suit without fear of a zoom lens! But it's dishonest for these stars to say it comes naturally.

@Zulkey: The process of "aging naturally" has been artificially manufactured for the few women who have the time and money to invest in it.

I see this "trend" as an indicator of privilege - only "natural" (IOW, extremely expensive, and you have to know the right doctor to go to which means being in the right social circles) plastic surgery is okay.

@LetsFoldScarves: It took me a long time to be okay with splitting bills according to our respective income (my partner makes three times what I do) .

I work in the non-profit world; my boyfriend works in the corporate world. He makes a shit-ton more money than I do.I finally accepted that it was fair for him to pay a larger share of the rent and bills. But even so, I guiltily do his laundry and do more of the cleaning because I still feel a little weird about not

I cringe when I think of how much I LOVED this movie as a kid. I watched it EVERY DAY one summer, until the VHS tapes (remember those?) wore out. And even now I'll watch almost anything Christopher Plummer is in.

@ZemarSea Urchin: Good lighting can take care of a LOT of problems. I know a professional photographer who's so good with lighting and flash that his photos LOOK like they've been processed even when they're straight from the camera.

@EmpressZombie: Yes, that's why some assimilated to avoid discrimination; I think there's also a Saami policy that affords some sort of special status?

@snacktastic: This is sadly hilarious, because when I was in Scandinavia everyone blamed everything on "those damned Poles."

@QoB: The Saami are different from both the Travellers and the Roma in that they are an indigenous ethnic group whose traditional "jobs" include nomadic reindeer herding. Plus, the Saami actually have had a fairly high level of assimilation into Nordic culture (admittedly due to fear of discrimination.) I'd say

Ladies: Frodo is also gay!

Strangely I have clear memories from my childhood of often being late to stuff because my mom absolutely would not leave the house without doing her eyebrows. And back then I would get upset at her about it, and say how when I grew up I wouldn't make people late just to put on makeup.

@SquidIceCream: I wear knee-high flat boots with mine to counteract that effect. And good accessories (belt, classic jewelry). I was afraid of the same thing since I already look pretty young, but got lots of complements when I wore the jumper/shirt combo this way.

@Marbleweed: Facebook allowed the page back up after much protest.

You can also get kicked off the site if you're an activist - two recent ones that I know of: Facebook took down Racebending's page (about whitewashing in Hollywood) and another page about freeing an unjustly convicted prisoner.

Or, "So how did this case get so fucked up?"

I bet that Guardian commenter fully supports the Cami Secret, God forbid the general populace be exposed to middle-class cardi cleavage!
