@puppy_plz: To this day, people I knew in elementary school tease me for always wearing overalls (and in the summer...::shudder::...shortalls) and a white t-shirt. I

Now when I got out dancing this weekend, I'll laugh at totally inappropriate times because I totally know people who dance like this baby.

@Laulau: Thank you. My parents had to get me out of high school early because I was so bored that I was getting into trouble. I sincerely believe that if I had been pushed ahead earlier, I would have developed actual discipline and study skills. As it is, I give up really easily when I don't "get" things quickly,

@ngoandy: I dated college-aged people, but I didn't go to college parties until I was 18. We weren't allowed to join the greek system, or live on campus. (I think this is pretty typical if there's a program, as opposed to just one kid entering early.) Most of my friends from college are significantly older than me,

Trust me, even with the child prodigy world, there's jealousy. I graduated high school at 15...but I was made fun of by the other "prodigies" where I ended up going to school for not graduating earlier, and for majoring in a "soft science" instead of "hard science." And then there were all the weird social symbols -

@mbprice: although in general I agree with you, there are notable exceptions. I used to work with abused kids and not all of their abusers had that history - and not all with a history of abuse go on to commit abuse themselves. So to make that statement about this kid, without knowing if it's true...

@NefariousNewt: Because I don't want the BIG BAD GOVERNMENT making decisions about what procedures I receive. I want a FOR-PROFIT COMPANY THAT PROVIDES BONUSES TO EMPLOYEES THAT CANCEL THE MOST POLICIES to make those decisions for me!

In terms of combining the last names, I know of only one, the Mayor of Los Angeles. His original last name was Villar and hers was Raigosa.

@TildeMarks: I actually see the plethora of food media a sign that people *aren't* cooking. If the American public in general had a healthy relationship with food, we wouldn't need all this stuff thrown at us about how we "should" cook or "how to" cook, etc.

I had a mole removed on my face several years ago - it had always bothered me since I was a kid. I thought I was the only one who noticed it, but since it bothered me I jumped at the chance to remove it once I had a medical reason to do it. But after I got it removed, three of my coworkers and my boyfriend

@Callipegian: there's actually some controversy over the Fresno thing within the marriage equality movement. Communities of color have been totally ignored by the (mostly white, male) leadership of the established gay organizations. I even volunteered to go speak with Latino voters and kept getting shunted to West

@mommy_dearest: I was peeved at that statement too - like there's supposed to be a hierarchy of racism?

@CollegeBookworm: It's sort of like how the Catholic church would rather let entire dioceses go without priests (or protect priests with abuse complaints), rather than let women become ordained.

@Treeless: Didn't you hear? Being gay RUINS your translating abilities - it all comes out as gay-bberish. As well as your parenting abilities. And your ability to be a faithful life partner. Basically, being gay means that you're less than human. ::end bitterness::

Although obviously Michelle is gorgeous, it'd be a worstie in my book even if she wasn't. This commenter seems to think the only reason people would admire a woman "round these parts" is because she's beautiful? So as much as I appreciate the gorgeous photos of Michelle, let's call this person out for the real

@BostonYenta: Word. I work in the (low paying) non-profit field and see a lot of women in my field who secretly harbor the hope that they'll be able to marry someone wealthy so that they can have the lifestyle but still keep their do-gooder job. That always skeeves me out, because the idea of being dependent on

@dontbogartthewine: in hawaii, i had the most amazing snack made of acai berry sorbet, hawaiian honey, bananas and organic granola. and i've been craving it since, so now thanks to you i'm headed out to buy the haagen daas! mmm...

@HarpMadness: One of the child therapists I used to work with had a similar theory, but about compliments like, "good girl" or "good boy." Because saying that to a kid is like saying "you're good BECAUSE you did X" and makes them associate what should be an intrinsic quality with some external behavior.

@Kali Mama:It went beyond accommodating, I think.. Word coming in is that the McCain campaign aggressively pushed this story with several news outlets (unsurprsingly, FoxNews bit hard.)
