I’ll die on this hill — The Phantom Menace proved to be every bit as influential as A New Hope. We’ve seen variations on Naboo in nearly every major sci-fi/fantasy franchise from the last 25 years.

He was right to be pissed. Leguizamo was a very well established character actor in 2005, and this wasn’t some low budget prestige project, it was a $110 million mainstream action movie. Offering scale was insulting.
Equipment fees were just a way to pass on content provider costs to the customer while keeping the topline price of the package artificially lower. More people were willing to pay for a $90 cable package + $10 monthly equipment fee, versus a $100 all-inclusive package.
It looks pretty similar to the Cavill suit, but that’s not a bad thing, because costume design wasn’t the issue with the Snyderverse.
It’s almost certainly some type of Matrix-like simulated world, right? This movie is supposed to take place in the far future following NYC’s destruction, but the surrounding environment appears to be based on 21st century NYC.
If this is the worst stuff anybody can say about him, he’s a much better guy than I would have assumed.
It reminded me a little bit of Cats, where the cats pop up one by one to introduce themselves with a song, and then when they run out of new cats, it ends.
Andrew Garfield is already 40! Jesus was only 33 when crucified! This will by far be the most implausible part of the story.
I saw those comments, and it sure feels like Chase was only backtracking because he had accidentally blurted out a secret he meant to take to the grave.
The Beatles are technically all Silent Generation.
Jon Snow’s story is finished. He wasn’t all that interesting as a character even when he was a recently resurrected secret heir to the Seven Kingdoms and the Chosen One who would single-handedly defeat the White Walkers.
That’s a fair question. Anecdotally I know lots of young adults into film that love those movies, but maybe that’s not a representative sample which would scale up to like millions and millions of people buying a ticket.
I agree, I’m personally dying to see this movie and I do think “from the director of The Godfather and Apocalypse Now” is (or should be) enough to get asses in seats. Even if it’s a mess, it’s guaranteed to be an interesting mess.
That person’s entire job is to evaluate whether their studio is likely to lose money or make money by purchasing the rights and spending money on P&A.
That was certainly a defiant finale! I’ve always loved the Seinfeld finale since it originally aired, and was confused by the backlash that started immediately afterwards and basically never went away. It’s not like there’s been some kind of “it was good, actually” reappraisal over the last 25+ years. But I’ll always…
I know you’re being sarcastic, but those two examples illustrate my point. WALL-E only works as a story because of the reveal that there’s still a humanity left to save. If it was just WALL-E hanging out on the destroyed Earth with no humans anywhere in the galaxy, it wouldn’t have been a story. It only becomes a…
They ended on the human race going extinct!
I made through the first two episodes before peacing out. The CRM is one of those storytelling devices that gets less interesting the more you learn about it. When the black helicopters were first introduced way back in the second episode of the flagship series, you kind of guessed “they’re like an evil paramilitary…
