It falls short of abuse though. His demands are unreasonable, but he seems to acknowledge that and he’s like “yeah I’m insecure but if you can’t deal with that, let’s break up.” Yeah, don’t date a surfer influencer if you don’t want thirsty strangers looking at pictures of your girlfriend, but to Hill’s credit he…
Now I’m annoyed because it sure seemed like they had finally killed off John Wick (how many times could he escalate the war against the High Table and keep wiping out entire cities full of assassins?), and now they’re already wink/nudging that because they didn’t actually show the undertaker embalming Wick’s body…
Fentanyl is only a problem *because* of prohibition. If Michael K. Williams could have purchased pure heroin, held to FDA standards, from a brick-and-mortar shop like the ones where most Americans can now buy cannabis, he would have done so.
Yeah, it was still a bit of an issue that the only Black woman with a speaking role across five Indy movies just gets shot like that and disappears from the story. I don’t think having Nazis say a bad word would have made the storyline more problematic, because they’re Nazis. Particularly as it’s not entirely clear…
People aren’t avoiding theaters because they’re scared of COVID, though. It seems like the pandemic accelerated a trend in favor of streaming at home over the theatrical viewing experience. Theaters were closed for a year-plus, too many big budget movies were dumped on streaming, and the spell wore off. Theaters are…
It’s telling that The Weeknd is such a bad actor that he failed at playing himself. The entire project was tailored around his successful Weeknd persona. The role isn’t pushing him into any uncomfortable territory, and doesn’t require any more range beyond what he does on stage. The whole thing is like if Prince…
Hoult is also probably too much of an established actor to play Superman — the role has always gone to a lesser known actor. I don’t think he was ever really in serious contention, and they invited him to screen test because he’s a veteran pro who could be counted on to bring out the best in his scene partner. There…
It does appear that Hill’s death is the “this time it’s personal” kick in the pants that Nick Fury needs to accept the call to action and come out of retirement. Meaning that Maria Hill was apparently killed for the sole purpose of raising the stakes for Fury and moving the plot along.
Eh you guys are convincing me. Being in an interracial marriage myself, I personally related to all the fun awkward “meet the parents” microaggressions and walking on eggshells that came with the initial visit, which was material I thought was well handled without being too on the nose. So when Pia just abruptly dies…
I didn’t like the way they handled the girlfriend’s death. It felt like they just killed her off-hand because they didn’t know what to do with the character, and Davis’ reaction is not even seen. The only reminder the girlfriend died comes from that opportunistic actress.
The shot of Indiana Jones in the shadow of the mushroom cloud is great! Like, it’s an all time great image for the character.
Elba’s career reminds me a bit of Michael Caine’s. Nobody is questioning the talent, but both actors have taken on some questionable roles to pay the bills. They’ve also both found time for plenty of excellent Real Acting work, as well as fun less serious work in successful comic book movies and stuff like that.
Can’t argue with the results, though.
This. I can buy that AI will soon be able to crank out scripts for super formulaic TV (like sitcoms and police procedurals) that are presentable enough. But there’s always going to be a way to detect that these scripts were written by AI.
It was mostly an issue with the general pacing of the series. The early seasons are so slow moving and talky. It takes characters weeks and months to get anywhere. Significant portions of a season will involve groups of characters traveling and talking, often mentioning upcoming events that won’t occur onscreen until…
There were just so many excellent shows this year in every genre. That’s some tight competition. It wasn’t that long ago the nominees were all network medical dramas and police procedurals.
So the thing I’m confused about in the Flash trailers is, if Barry only goes back 20 years or so to save his mom, why does that change the timeline so that Bruce Wayne looks like Michael Keaton instead of Ben Affleck? The point of divergence occurs long after Bruce Wayne’s birth.
The MCU is good for the actors because it gives them high profile roles and a nice paycheck and it’s kind of like working on a TV show that never gets canceled. But eventually they all seem to get tired of it, and it’s understandable because the franchise has gone on forever and it’s getting progressively less…
Multiverse movies are popular at the moment because we appear to be living in one of the darker timelines, and it’s comforting to think there are better timelines out there. Audiences want to see Tobey Maguire and Michael Keaton suit up again because most of our lives were better in the 90s and 00s. The multiverse…
