Gen Xers are too old for all of these acts. This is definitely for the older millennial sect like myself thanks.

This story highlights the fact that there is a large, unnamed gap between Gen X and the Millennials. No self-respecting Gen-Xer (an oxymoron, perhaps) would be a fan of the Backstreet Boys. And Millennials (I think) are too young to appreciate them.
Uhm, I think Backstreet Boys fans are millennials.
It’s called a litter. What are you, a poor?
Conversely, I haven’t changed my mind about Wendy Williams
Thanks. I did make it out over at gawker, and I think it was Hamno of all people.
I take issue with much of the Social Justice movement, so my comment history will keep me in the greys here at Jez, I’m afraid. I’m often accused of “mansplaining.” Probably because I’m a man and I have the nasty habit of explaining…
I wish you weren’t grayed out. There’s nuance and substance to your thoughts. Because of that I assume you’ll be in the grays forever.
Yeah, I noticed the same thing. I also noticed that many of those who did decide to comment are very uninformed about the details of this case, and especially those details that cast doubt on Jackie.
“In America you can’t even talk about whiteness,” said Drew Domalick, who lives in Green Bay, Wisconsin. “If you try to embrace being white, you are portrayed as being a racist. If we had a White History Month, that would be viewed as a racist holiday.”
There was also a good long-read in Vanity Fair last September.
Not sure you can be ‘collateral damage’ if you started the ball rolling.
Yeah maybe, except that Rolling Stone’s best defense is good faith reliance on Jackie and the material that she gave them. It’s a stronger play if they actually bring her into the case as a party, instead of just witness blaming. Let the jury see them fire shots at her. At the very least, Rolling Stone can hope for…
According to the Post, the Charlottesville PD did investigate and “determined that no one named Haven Monahan had ever attended U-Va.”(Haven Monahan is the name she made up to go with pictures of a former high school classmate of hers) and “Police ultimately determined that no gang rape occurred, and Rolling Stone…
Texts between Jackie and one of her freshman friends (the guy she reportedly wanted romantic attention from) suggest she might have also created an online identity to “catfish” the friend, and suggested in text messages with the friend that she had a terminal illness from which she was dying.
So... this claim may not…
I know I’ll probably get a ton of flak for this, and trust me I sympathize as a survivor myself, but I feel that the dean has every right to depose Jackie, even if I find it repugnant that she’s going around branding Jackie as a liar.
Um, well, it seems to be more than just getting dates mixed up. There are several eye witness accounts detailing how Jackie told them she’d just experienced a sexual assault after texting them, on that specific date. It also appears there’s a good chance she created a false online identity to get closer to one of her…
Nothing has been decided in this case (hence the need for a deposition) but if you haven’t read into the details yet, reserve judgment. Sorry if that sounds condescending but this is such a minefield and this case is a really sorry example of how fucked up our entire culture/legal system/etc still is when it comes to…
More likely her lawyer is worried that Rolling Stone will implead her as a necessary defendant.
