As i said earlier the Grim Dark Criticism... Is thin. Because the darkness wasn’t the problem. It was the thinness of the story. The darkness of it and the imagery that was all great, or some of the greater bits in the movie. It was the plot development and movement that needed help.

I don’t think either of those movies were darker than the Nolan movies that were also criticized for being... wait for it... Dark and not kid appropriate and humorless.
