It van be a lot of chaos my friend! Just try to be on the pilot bridge of a large destroyer while transiting from the Baltic to the Northern Sea...Absolute madness. The actual battles can get very crazy with many possible errors on both sides. Just watch the Discovery Channel documentary on how USS Vincennes by

Its either the Kirov ( with 2 100-mm gun mounts aft ) or Kalinin ( with 1 130-mm gun mount aft ). Peter the Great wasn't in the fleet until the late 90's.

I remember those flying over our ship in the North Sea. Good but old machines ( the Buccaneers )

Remember this visit. July 1989. Good old times!

Great picture, buddy! Keep up the good work!

Agree. I spent a few years at this "resort" facility well north of the Arctic Circle. Good times...

What about Tu-160 & Tu-22M3? I think they look pretty good. Also check out some Soviet/Russian navy warships. Absolutely beautiful. Some Western design, especially British & French would not even come close in terms of looks.

Where did you get that information? Directly from some Russian pilots?

You said that Russia has lost a ton of aircraft in war of 2008. The highest number I saw was 6. I personally think it's a little bit of an overstatement.

He can say whatever he wants, it's all politics. In real life Russia probably can claim a large portion of the Arctic & its natural resources. US & Canada also would do pretty well, along with Norway & Denmark. Who is going to stop them? United Nations...

When I was in the Navy in the late 80's- early 90's these type of interceptors were routinely deployed out of our Arctic bases. That's what they were designed for in the first place. After all, the closest distance between the Eurasia & North America is via the North Pole. It never made the news in those days.

The high-speed ASM aimed against the battle carrier groups were the specialty of the Soviet and now the Russian navy. That was the part of the weapons eqilibrium they perfected very well. To my knowledge, western navies do not possess similar systems, they had different missions and tactics.

More like 60 years. The Soviet Navy started seriously work on the anti-carrier warfare since the late 50's.
