You are missing the entire point. Linux is hands free. For me to go through 5 VMs and 5 lab PCs to change those settings? Would take hours. Windows needs better resource/program handling.

Win7 will boot to windows in under 2 min. It is waiting for windows to load everything that is the issue here. Usable state means once everything is finished loading. I'm in hardware/software testing...It is quite common for 5-10 minute load times on both XP, 7, and server versions.

True. I expected a similar response. You will never get Windows down to the start time of Ubuntu or other linux distros. It can take upwards of ten minutes for my desktop to boot into a usable state on win7...yet only take 30 seconds from off to usable state in Ubuntu.

From my experiences, Ive lived in several locations over the past 6yrs. 2 different states and at least 3 different areas in each city. I've dealt with Armstrong (once in PA, once in OH), comcast, time warner, and AT&T. Each of them had a monopoly on that part of the area.

Except...they told him. He went over the bandwidth cap. Bandwidth = upload and download. They should not need to specify any further. Maybe he should have used a Tomato Router and monitored his own usage.
