Anyone who wants to play the Multiplayer is still going to play the original’s multiplayer. That isn’t being split at all, in fact had they added it to the LE, it WOULD split the playerbase between the two, so anyone who refused to buy the LE would have less people to play with.

It isn’t free via Playstation Plus, its free from the Play at Home Initiative.  You keep it regardless of Plus subscription, and I think you don’t even need the Plus sub to get it in the first place.
