I don’t know when the news/political worlds decided that “decorum” should be more important than focusing on any important issues, but it’s very disappointing. Like sure, okay, the day of a crazy event and/or tragedy it’s might be considered in poor taste to go real hard on a subject (or mock it). Maybe, maybe even a

Not really.  He was inspired by the Question but Moore then just rolled with it and added Ditko’s Mister A then turned up the psycho to 11.

Yeah, I’d never really ever heard that either. I thought it was great. Granted, I’ve never really done any deeps dives on ‘The Shining’ analysis.

There are people who think it’s not a good performance?

Wait, there are people who thought her performance was bad?

It’s weird that the nepo baby critique is always about people in the arts and not people in business, where the outcome is more substantive (and funnier) when someone just fucking sucks

The voice doesn’t bother me, so much as the nagging question of “Who is this even FOR?”

I have no problem with the voice. I *do* have a problem with the utter uselessness of this entire project.

Like a number of people I continued to come here out of internet muscle memory, and since the sale to Paste the uptick in quality has been rapid. Legacy writers (the good ones!) coming back, return of long-dormant features, and the near absence of reposted clickbait crap. I have moved from guardedly to full-on optimist

i mean, look like i said i think they’re funny and still do. loved the movie. i’m glad they’re in comedy, i can’t blame them for being in comedy, and i like their comedy.

yes but everyone was on the same equal footing. it used to be that a group of people could say ‘hey maybe let’s see a movie’ on friday night, and go do that. hey, the screening they were nearest might be sold out, but they could settle for bad seats or get tickets to the next show.

What exactly did people expect her to do after her show anyway, outside of maybe some stand-up specials? Maybe she could make a four-part Western with Kevin Costner.

The last time I tried to go to a regular theater that wasn’t the small one close to me that’s now closed, I was with 2 friends.  We showed up half an hour before showtime and they did not have 3 seats together for us.  So we walked out and went to a showing of Spaceballs for like $5 each at a small local theater.

His entire career lately has been doing the same kind of films Kirk Cameron does. I’m not surprised.

See, now this really does feel like the AV Club of yore. An article where the writer has clearly had to suffer, significantly, for many many hours, in order to put together a retrospective that’s so much more insightful than the relative crap it’s covering deserves that the contrast is staggering.

In some ways, it’s kind of cool. Why on earth does “kids music” exist, generally? Is there really a shortage of regular music that kids can safely listen to? It’s like if there were dozens of G and PG movies out every year that weren’t explicitly about kids, so someone then decided they had to make dozens more movies

Wyatt Russel kinda has the same thing going with his parents.

i’d even go as far as saying that advance ticket sales/pre-selected seats fucked theatres even before that.

J.J. Abrams’ take on Hot Wheels

She was good in Ben & Kate. Give her more comedy.
