I find the contrast between the two main stories interesting: I watched the Jenna Marbles apology, and it seemed heartfelt and sincere. No “I’m sorry you were offended” b.s. She gets slammed for not having the correct keywords. Contrast that with transphobic garbage person Cardi B who’s never apologized for any of her

I think Richard Sherman’s callout might have helped turn the tide.

I didn’t know they weren’t the same person until your comment.

Seriously. I’d also like to give props to Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream. Their corporate message is great; then add the fact that Ben & Jerry both (I think) got arrested in DC protesting: Haägen Daz who?

I’ll let Chris Rock respond:

This is way more powerful of a message than the standard corporate messaging that’s been filling my inbox.

False outrage gets clicks, it’s what a huge piece of the internet is built off of. Any free thinking, level headed person can acknowledge when something is inappropriate but can also see when an author is generating outrage when there is none.

Considering I’m white, your opinion obviously carries a lot more weight on this than mine does. I think it’s more that they’re just now finally addressing it. This is also reminding me of just how black Fox’s prime time lineup used to be in the early and mid 90's. UPN and The WB (at first) were, too.  But it seems like Fox just flipped a switch around 1998 and were like “we’re not doing that anymore.”

A friend of mine once observed “You know how Seinfeld is a show about nothing? Cheesecake Factory is a restaurant about everything.” If the menu has tabs, you know you’re in trouble.

True, although the constant grind of misgendering trans people, especially trans murder victims, is a particular level of callous indifference. There is a level of ignorance/disregard that occurs to such a degree and for so long that it constitutes malice.

Is this the second day in a row where this column has bashed voting?

Cole Sprouse’s instagram post should have been directly linked:

The language about Lil Timmee here is weird. Why are we assuming that, because he mobilized his fan base to call the DA’s office, he did not also donate money? I donated to the bail fund yesterday but didn’t post my receipt on Twitter because I wasn’t comfortable posting that info. I told my best friend, because she

When the MeToo movement began he made some stupid remarks about what constitutes sexual harassment, and though he’s apologized up and down for it as well as always seeming like a pretty cool guy before and after that, many folks around here will never forgive him. (But Cardi B can order some women to be physically
