Due to their incompetence, I got $80 worth of lumber for free. So, that's a positive.

From what I understand of the brewery, they only make enough to pay for their expenses for the year. So, I imagine it's the standard aging period for a Quad. The bottles from 2 years ago were specially marked, since they needed a new roof and increased sales that year. Previously when I had the beer it was an unmarked

One more thing. Serious Eats is starting up a column for Cast Iron Cooking. Only one entry so far, but that should build. Seeing as how you're looking for things to do with yours, I'd say follow this.

So only Hobo Blood Vodka for you, then?

Apparently, all veggies in the Brassica family do really well roasted/sauteed to almost blackness. I read about grilling wedges of cabbage, and can't wait to give that a try.

Just give them ONE more try. look up the momofuku brussels sprouts. SO good.

One comment I'll make, which is probably an exception, not a rule. When I was in college and manager of the university bookstore, we had one summer worker who was a foreign exchange student from France. Everyone that was also working would complain to me that he reaked. And honestly, he absolutely did. It was

Ah ok. This place Persimmon isn't belgian either. We cooked the belgian food. Persimmon is upscale, i guess american cuisine. Not themed, I guess is a better description.

No, I'm in Rhode Island. Is there a belgian place you were going to recommend? Or another restaurant?
I'd like to visit DC or Baltimore again, though it probably won't happen for at least a year.

Congrats! And that meal sounds awesome!

Leaving him puzzled as to where his puzzles went…

How were the brussels sprouts done? Try having them roasted until almost black, so the taste of it gets nutty. So good.

Congrats on all that good news!
For the wedding, not being sure of the reasons for the bad blood, but I'd say try to at least stick it out for the wedding. It sounds like stress is running high for everyone involved (seeing as how you're doing a lot of this planning too), so things may get better once it's passed.

Sorry to hear. Best of luck to the both of you.

Don't know till you try

When I was in Munich in May, I went to hofbrau haus for a drink and ended up sitting at a table with americans. One of them was a mid 20's asian man from DC. I secretly expected it to be you.

It's definitely not a session beer :). Very caramel-y taste to it. Heavy on the pallate, but really smooth. Perfect head retention and color; it's a lot darker than I'd imagine.
The main issue with saying "best beer in the world" is that you look for something that stands out as amazing. Instead, it's the opposite of

well, I'm no greek god, so…

While in Montreal, I was trying to be polite to anyone I spoke with and always started off with "Parlez-vous anglais", and EACH person I spoke to would say "I'm sorry, what?" I don't know if I was pronouncing it wrong (I wasn't), and they all definitely spoke french, but for some reason, none of them understood me,

GO TEAM VENTURA!
