There are a lot of false positives in modern ecus and it will retard timing for the duration of the knock. If that continues for a while it will retard the timing across the rev range.

I doubt it. VW people seem to be very loyal to their brand, and so are subaru people. Most of the GTI would not consider a WRX and viceversa, so those interested in mazda would be just a small subset of the 2 brands mentioned above.

actually it is. just a tune on an otherwise stock 17 wrx and it will go from fun to illegal in the blink of an eye. i don’t have the time to track the car and i am just your average fat ass 40yr old. i also like the handling more than pure straight line speed.
