they redid the engine completely a few years ago. Why that hasn’t made it to the STI is a whole different question .

the modern equivalent would be the current wrx. i had an 05 legacy gt and now a 17 wrx.

my guess is that is only the limited trim. base and premium will have something different, and likely an upgrade on the premium

I am speculating here, but they had a new platform that was not really competitive in its first year, and with the transverse mounted engine change just 1 or 2 years away i don’t think they thought it was worth it to further develop. There was a major chassis change in 09 for the impreza from the previous year. 

they have fa20dit and fb20 that replaced the EJ in most of their lineup, why not in the STI it’s a mistery

because WRC requires a transverse mounted engine now. I don’t think a flat 4 can be mounted that way.

i’ll take honda paint over subaru paint any day. My 17 wrx is chipped to shit with only 36k miles on the clock, while my 16 Odyssey still looks like new with 50k on the clock.  

and you are not showing the 4th generation that can be had with a turbo CVT. Just a tall wrx.
