Fit, finish and materials are what usually differentiate a luxury marque these days. Mazda 3's are quiet and ride nicely.
The Tesla is okay for materials, while not being great, but their fit, finish and overall workmanship is bested by most econo-brands.

You can have any color you want as long as it’s black.

Likely very high. We’ll find out by the end of 2019.

Especially as tech improves and that Edge is getting 30mpg+ next gen. Jalopnik needs to get off this “sedans are the only vehicles capable of being fuel efficient” shtick.  Long gone are the days when SUVs and trucks got mileage in the teens while cars were pushing 30.  There’s not that big of a difference anymore,

Neutral: Trucks are just a substitute for land yachts. The family sedan of yore used to have a 20+ cuft trunk, seating for 6, and come priced well enough that you didn’t feel bad using and abusing it. Modern sedans just aren’t a good value compared to trucks, especially once you factor in resale value. A full size

The Q3 ZEV credit value was ~$205m. If Q4 is about the same it means as an automaker, they once again lost (a small amount of) money. As ZEV Broker, they were profitable.

The future is not looking good, especially with the competitive landscape becoming much more crowded in the next 12-18 months.

It’s 2019 and honest to dog I don’t know if you’re telling the truth or making a sly social observation.

The value is going to keep going up... you can’t lose!  Wait a minute...

Yeah, a few grand didn’t make much difference when I got my 15-year adjustable-rate loan for my F-250 King Ranch.

Presumably, they mean when under normal operational parameters.

I think that was the 9 speed. Ford loves the 10 speed and uses it in many vehicles including the Mustang.

Your old life is gone, and you are now Jim Hackett, CEO of the Ford Motor Company.

Hey my guy, i’m sorry to say but you’re not the type of customer Ford is catering to anymore. There might be other folks like you that want a small car but Ford have probably already done the math and decided they can’t survive selling a couple thousand cars a year to like minded people like yourself. Not saying its

It topped 300k twice and not by much. Given sedan sales have declined overall, a new or refreshed model wasn’t going to make it back to even that mark.

The brand new hybrid Explorer and Aviator are obvious responses to the idea Ford isn’t planning for higher gas prices. But Jalopnik will keep banging this drum.

1'st Gear:

“They are only looking at emissions not how it is used”

This is not a good comparison. Per ton of cargo carried- ocean ships would be the most efficient mode of transportation- more efficient than trains.

I hate to break it to you but the automotive enthusiast world, in the grand scheme of other “hobbies” is hardly what you’d call “many” and more like “a microscopic portion of the global population that can actually afford a personal vehicle, and an even smaller percentage of the greater population that cannot”.

I don’t think the fact that high speed causes higher emissions can really be contested. It’s whether or not it’s worth bothering to fix that’s the issue. There are certainly other sources of emissions that can be reduced, but maybe their thinking is that this is probably one of the least expensive ones?
