“and a 16' gt350 (burned a quart of oil every 500 miles)“
Heh... every time I hear “country mile” it makes me think about an old customer of mine.
No need to look any further than the 90's quadfecta and the awesome RX-7, NSX, 300ZX, and Supra.
Cheaper and easier to find a 8.8 disc brake setup. Especially if the guy isn’t adverse to shortening up the rear housing and ordering a custom set of axles or just cutting down the stock axles.
Ah... the new worst selling car in the US....
Jackie Gleason was the movie! This was a coworker’s granddad’s favorite movie. Sometimes we quote (often paraphrase) lines from the movie all day long and laugh every time.
The LT is about as good as it gets without adding copious amounts of displacement (too expensive and makes meeting emissions requirements harder as the bore grows) or turning them into low grade pro-stock motors (emissions compliance and longevity).
obligatory facetious post...
6 gears for the GT350 if you don’t want to cruise at 3500-4000 rpm or more. The TR3160 doesn’t hit 1:1 till 5th and comes with a 3.73 final drive although the car rides on 27" tall tires which help things a bit ( 3.73's back in the day with 24 and 25 inch tires were a different story especially with the 4 and 5 speed…
Just this past Saturday... could be karma but I’m not a believer and in any event I’m about to pay the dumbass fine for my rookie mistake.
“I work a lot with inertial navigation systems they cost more than any car you can afford ....
That is my thought as well. Reminds me of the time a survivor of a plane crash related how many of the passengers panicked and either didn’t follow crash procedure or just straight up unbuckled and ran around the passenger space like chickens with thier heads cut off.
Wasn’t really impressed with that color until I saw it outside and all that gold metal flake popped then I could understand the excitement about GTHG
An apt description I think -heaven forbid somebody misses out on that promotion when they didn’t wear the same suit or drive to work in a car some other color than what thier boss considers appropriate.
IIRC that V8 will be close to or under 5.0 liters so it wont end being excessively large and heavy like the Mercury Marine engine.
Talk about the Rodney Dangerfield of cars. The 3rd gen cars were pretty capable in thier day. Its just a shame team mullet picked it as thier mascot and wanted to go drag racing with it.
Probably because all of thier production is centered around adpating GM V8's. Going with a Ford based V8 would essentially be reinventing the wheel for Mercury Marine plus the aftermarket is super huge for the LS engine further reducing costs when it it comes to things like pistons, rods, cranks and so on.
Well aftermarket V8 anyways but that begs the question then is Ford’s 5.2 Voodoo V8 not considered “American”?
Well until you realize torque and horsepower are interelated and you cannot have one without the other.
