" Full-quarter-mile smoke shows with impressive trap speeds, but mediocre elapsed times were the rule, not the exception."

@HurtsSoGood: "Why the haterade? Let oil go to $180 a barrel again, and you'll all be wanting an A Class. "

@orustlerolie: I don't think anyone here DOES hate jags. If we hated them, we'd just mostly ignore them. Instead, we spend time telling every story we have about these beautiful bastards, because they're all memorable.

@eatadonut: Well, apparently these Porsche people think we're looking at the back end of a car. I'll be buggered.

2010 Jaguar XK-R

I'm not so excited about the boxster as I am about the distant possibility that I'll be able to steal the design of those door pulls for my miata.

pipe for sure. I saw a pristine example (240 wagon, stick, 80's gold paint) with twice the mileage but a stack of service records that boggled the mind go for $2400 not too long ago.

If they could perfect it to the point where I could get buzzed at lunch and be clear to drive on the way home, I'm for it.

@mfusion: My experience is that if you are going to spend less than $20 on a 750ml bottle, you should stick with the professionals, i.e. northern europeans and russians. Sobieski is my drink of choice, or Russian Standard if I'm going to pay just a smidge more.

all 4 sons in my family learned on a 2001 Tacoma, instructed by my dad. Wasn't that hard - I knew the basics, and that first was so low that as long as you let the clutch out slowly, you couldn't stall it.

If I had endless streams of money, this would certainly be worth a consideration. But even in my dreams I'll only be able to afford one 6-figure car in my lifetime, and there are some more awesome cars out there for $115k.

Having driven the Dalton in a '98 Dodge Caravan, I feel like this is the next logical step.

@4wheeldrift: I think that in an ideal world, racing would be just like in the Speed Racer movie. We want aggressive driving and spectacular crashes. And then we want to see the drivers roll away safely in their little cocoons.

@K5ING: sorry, forgot my sarcasm disclaimer. Despite my high expectations, I was very impressed the first time I stood next to a shiny new TDI while it was running.

But diesel smells! Also, my wife's cousin's boyfriend's boss has a late 80's ford diesel, and that thing is a bear to start in the winter.
