It wasn’t continuously believed to be canceled, the entire writing team consists of two guys, and the animation is fairly traditional as opposed to the majority of modern 2d cartoons being assisted with Toon Boom.

Rusty in season 5/6 is far less callous towards the boys than in the early episodes. He even comforts and shows affection to JJ when he’s dying of cancer. On the whole he’s far more of a decent friend to Billy and Pete as well. How can you even say this?

They were intended to be direct to video, they were made with much smaller budgets and were outsourced to cheaper animation studios, with one exception the main animation studio wasn’t making sequels at the time. Also Williams ended up reprising Genie in the second sequel.
