To all the people on here that are slagging on the Y62 Patrol and saying it’s in no way comparable to the Land Cruiser 200 - you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Having spent 2 weeks in Ethiopia, I know that there are a shit ton of old Peugeot taxis still operating in Dire Dawa and Harar.
Production of the 504 in Africa actually carried on even longer. Until 2004 in Kenya and 2006 in Nigeria.
Harar is in the northeast of the country.
Aside from the fact that there is a SsangYong disguised as a Mahindra in this rally..
Because you and your bros are probably the kind of guys who ask random chicks online to send you bobs and vagine.
Kia actually makes trucks that are MORE than we’re talking about!
Air suspension is an option.
This truck only costs around $37-38,000 ex-Dubai wholesaler.
Agreed.. I’ve driven 70 series thousands of miles. They are light years ahead of the old LR Defender ergonomically. They aren’t bad at all.
Andrew, it’s disappointing that you are following the tack of every other auto writer in the USA and talking about the Land Cruiser’s potential “demise” from a totally US-centric view point. As if what might happen (withdrawal of the 200 series) in the USA is a reflection on the whole world.
They will have a basic trim level with rubber/vinyl floors and steel wheels. Did you see the steel wheels in the photos? These versions will likely only be available with coil suspension.
They even Dakar.
It’d certainly be fairly easy for them to produce both RHD/LHD at the same factory. The dash boards are pretty modular. Three pieces, with both left and right sides being the same width. RHD/LHD firewalls all come from the same production line, with identical knock out holes for whatever driving side is being built.
Based on the grill, the yellow pickup is most likely a pre-1991 75-series. In 1991, they went to a grill like this:
The photo you posted isn’t the 70-series OEM snorkel.
Yes, in fact the majority of the production in Japan is LHD going to the Africa and Middle East markets. Funnily, a standard RHD 70 series tends to cost 10% more than the same LHD at source and they come off of the same production line.
Almost all 70-series are still manufactured in Japan at the Yoshiwara Plant. The production in Portugal is mostly for the North Africa market and possibly South Africa. There is some local production using SKD kits outside of Japan and Portugal, though this tends to be limited the single cab pickup as is assembled in…
Correct.. from 1984 until today, all 70-series have been non-IFS. In 2007, they started using coil springs in the front, doing away with the leaf springs still used in the back.
