Repeating the same response as above, because ignorance is everywhere:

Yeah, same. My onion from Corbyn country is that we lost here because he personally is an awful candidate figure, useless at leadership, and unwilling to face up to MODERN socialist issues. I am deeply concerned that Bernie would command a similar dynamic, which makes me worry about the outcome you describe. I think

Technically, Bill Weld is running for the Republican nomination, but he isn’t getting the consideration he deserves from either the media or the Republican Party, nationally or in many states (including Massachusetts, where he was Governor).

I predict Trump will refuse to debate. His staff will find an excuse to keep him sheltered and away from media questions or debate. And his Opponent should lead chants of “coward” at his or her rallies.

His dementia prevents him from attending any debates. It’s bizarre how much work the Dems are putting into their candidate selection while the Cons are already set on the orange guy, who is incapable of being a leader.

Clint Eastwood style. I like it. Unlike Clint Eastwood.

There are people running as R opponents, but the RNC - or should I say the TNC - won’t give them the time of day. They wouldn’t schedule debates even if his opponents agreed to show up on 5 minutes notice.

I don’t know either, but we tried a moderate in 2016 and that didn’t work too well. In 2008 we ran a black candidate on a progressive platform who was born to pretty much single mom, with a Muslim father and step father, raised partly in a Muslim country, with the name Barack Hussain Obama. And we won. Sadly I think

To be fair, even if Ronald Reagan were to rise from the grave and name himself a Democrat and run on his 80's platform and win the -D nomination, the media/GOP would still scream “SOCIALISM!” during the campaign. So nominating a candidate on that basis is a non-starter. And while those “scary” candidates may indeed

Agreed that the analogy to the UK is flawed. But... If we end up nominating Bernie or Liz and Trump wins convincingly, would *that* count as evidence that the left-leaning electorate on the whole is less progressive and more milquetoast? What would count as evidence in this regard? I can’t even tell anymore. (Asking

Joe Biden wants you to know that Jeremy Corbyn and the Labour party’s defeat in the UK’s general election is a cautionary tale against leaning too far left. Of course, the circumstances are entirely different, but why focus on reality when you can make excuses for milquetoast centrism?

I’m pretty sure Pete was the type of teenager who brought a briefcase to school with him every day...

Yep.  She has the best leadership qualities imo.

After Elizabeth Warren is the nominee (wishful thinking!!!!!); I want her to call Trump a coward at every opportunity because he refuses to debate her. Call him a coward and keep asking what Trump is afraid of. Over and over and over again.

Anyone else’s kinja comments loading slow as hell? Seems particularly bad on the Slot.

The anti-bullying portion of Melania Trump’s Be Best initiative apparently doesn’t include teen activists:

Lucky.  Mine died before he could witness this bittersweet moment.  RIP Elijah Cummings.  Thank you for helping us get here.

The Republican Party has discovered, and has for the last decade ruthlessly exploited, the heuristic that people who only dimly pay attention to politics mistake “bipartisan” for “good”. In normal circumstances, it’s not necessarily a bad heuristic; the assumption is, look, they’ve got their opinion, and you’ve got

Yeah. I kept thinking how it was like debate in high school - the Dems were like the kids who took it seriously and showed up to the competition thoroughly researched and prepared, whereas the Republicans were like the douchebros who joined debate because they heard nerdy girls give it up easy and when it comes to

And she made it clear that she was voting FOR our Constitution, not against anyone. Bravo! And holding up a copy of OUR Constitution just puts a small dagger into the hearts of the Republican balderdash.
