Seriously. Toyota engineering 30 years ago may have been legendary, but no one points to a Japanese car from the 80s as the height of rust-proofing technology.

This is the correct answer. I miss my 2nd gen. Not much appeals to me about the ones they’ve made since, though.

Didn’t Elvis used to own a Jetstar? Is this some weird trick?

Just some big time sensuality.

It always seemed a little disrespectful to have the flag hanging over the dirtiest part of the car, but maybe that’s just me.

Me too! That’s what kicked off my obsession.

I had a ‘96 SE-R. I desperately want to believe this is what ultimately happened to my car.

So, the Type-R gives up some performance in exchange for being easier to live with? That might be a fair trade for a lot of people.

Crack pipe solely due to outlining all of the door openings with little chrome strips.

This is much-needed background information. It all makes more sense now.

I think the probable flaw in your math is that our Golf/GTI is built in Mexico with savings from locally sourced parts and the free trade agreement that the Up! would not benefit from.

I guess I should excuse him since English is a second language, but Hitler is terrible at spelling.

But the sheik was driving his Cadillac.

Any Chevy EuroSport. Not European. Not Sporty.

I think back to my early autocrossing days when the old timers would tell everyone never to fuck with a rolling wheel. Just let it go. They left out the part where the wheel continues on, hellbent for blood.

They’re moved up close to the steering wheel, looking over it with a look of terror.

Kids and white leather. What a combo!

The is the first car I’ve owned without much of a top end. I do miss winding the engine out to 8 grand. Still, all that torque can be pretty amusing.

205hp is probably fine in isolation. I’m certainly not bothered by having “only” 210 in my GTI. The problem is that the lower model Civics are encroaching on its territory. My ‘08 Si had 57 more hp than the EX. This only has 31 more (I think)? It doesn’t make as much sense in the Civic lineup.

Weird, I just followed a sedan version of that car into work today. It was a good reminder of how far diesels have come smell-wise.
