I know that feel. I mean, subs are fine, but the dubs (especially the better ones) make it better, IMHO.

I'd say it makes for an interesting story gimmick. The kid mourns the loss of his mother, yet the tears he sheds in his loss brings to life a friend. It's a bit disheartening to shift the mood so quickly, but I reckon it'll be better in the game than how it was presented in the trailer.
