My fellow passenger on my last flight out of LAS seemed to do just fine chugging beer (Miller Lite IIRC) and Xanax before the plane was fully boarded. And he did us all a favor by passing out shortly after takeoff. Yeah, there was some hooker stank on him but you can’t beat him for attitude!

Yeah, the $50 ride was in the mid-to-late 1980's and I spotted the price in one of my many photographs I took then. I know I couldn't leave a small child alone to take the ride but our house was five minutes from the airport hence the woulda-coulda-shoulda.

A looong time ago when my son (now 30) was very young we'd go to the local air show annually. You could get 20 minutes in a P51 for $50. Not taking that deal is the only regret I have in life. My wife bought me a ride in a B-17 for my 50th birthday....

A VW perhaps? Sounds an awful lot like a Passat we used to own. The dealer stopped talking to me after I threatened to burn it on their front lawn rather than trade it in for a 90% loss after three years of ownership.

I’ve owned 2 Maximas. The first was a 1995 SE which I bought new, totaled and miss to this day. The second was a one-owner used 2002 SE to replace my totaled 1995 SE. Both were great cars although the 1995 was smaller, lighter and closer to what I’d prefer to drive. Pros: both reliable as the proverbial Swiss Watch,

Finding one in that condition is rare. These were nice cars but unless you lived in a warm, dry climate they had major rust issues. NOTE: Former Volvo Amazon wagon owner here and I am not kidding about the rust.

Good venture capitalists risk Other People's Money and make their nut on fees to their investors (and often by getting a piece of the company if it succeeds). They operate in a similar fashion to LBO firms.

Well, not me actually but it bears telling...

I can see a "halo edition" of this vehicle with some custom-colored truck nuts...wait for it...the "Guts and Nuts" model.

Augh. Looks like a Juke sucking a lemon.

Good post and I agree 100%...especially about the connection being wireless. That would be ideal but I've lived through the dog-slow evolution of home wireless and it was ten to fifteen years in before the various vendors agreed on a "one button" way to connect your device to a home router. If that's the agile tech

Meh. The Nuclear Weapons Deity has already had its try at North Carolina so I think I'll pass on this exercise. The nuclearsecrecy web site has a decent write-up if I recall correctly (the site seems to be...er...nuked at the moment) of that incident.

Haha....my son also owns a 2000 M5 but much prefers his elderly crapcan Suburban for tooling around. I've driven his Suburban on the 405 and for something that has the radar signature of a barn this thing is as close to invisible as you can get.

The police don't see oatmeal. Therefore I love oatmeal. My 1991 Taurus SHO was practically invisible (meh, a Ford DD with a body kit?). My 2000 BMW M5, not so much. I've had local police literally jump into the road in front of me with a radar gun (WTF?) while driving this car.

If there's anyone in automotive media has a right to be frightened for his life it's Richard Hammond. Read his book On the Edge (http://www.amazon.com/Edge-My-Story-…) for a glimpse of what happens when things go really, really, really wrong.

Damn you, Powerball. Damn you to Heck. <weeps>

Oh good heavens. We bought a '74 XJ12L in the late 1990's with perfectly good intentions of restoring it. The car only had one owner (deceased, we bought it from her estate) and roughly 74,000 miles although after we had it for a bit it's hard to figure out how it ran long enough to get to that many miles.

NC resident here. C''mon down to blow shit up or whatever. My two neighbors on the back of my property have their own private gun ranges. It really spooks visitors to hear automatic weapons fire. The most immediate neighbor is a National Guard marksmanship instructor and he practices his craft most weeks. Note:

Yes, three times. To be fair, I should have tried this on a different machine/browser/OS just to make sure. You snooze you lose...
