Sadly, this could be the case. My aunt had a similar experience and went missing for a few hours due to dementia...since then relatives have been her private drivers to prevent something worse...

Don’t think that helped improve the current situation. In my eyes, that’s unnecessary taxpayer money used...at the end of the day, some crazy people in the North can activate missiles from a hidden launch control room or possibly a smartphone...so yeah, leaving the planes at an airbase would probably be more efficient.
