OMG!!!!

High-pressure upgrade tactics. Lack of customizability compared to previous versions. Forced updates and other lack of user choice. Privacy issues. Far too much cloud integration with lack of obvious routes to keep data local. Built-in advertisements. Previously-included programs are now only available as separate

Exactly. Don’t want it now, won’t want it in the future.

I didn’t want this spyware when it’s free, sure as hell ain’t paying $119 for it.

Why? Windows 7 works just fine, and is good until 2020. By 2020, most of the existing PC’s on the market right now will be old enough to replace, and you will get Win 10 with your PC purchase. I’ve helped tons of people un-install Windows 10 in the last few weeks because they clicked yes to reserve their copy long ago

Pass! Win 10 has real privacy concerns, and is a bloated piece of crap. I recommend staying with Win 7 (the upgrade to Pro is worth it).

We’re pleased to see Windows 10 become one of the largest online services in less than a year.

So does that mean they’ll stop trying to force people to upgrade? Because they would be great.

Does this mean those god damn reminders are finally going to go away or will they become even more obnoxious?

Nope. Nope. Nope. 10 most definitely wasn’t the disaster 8 was, but it’s still not worth it to move away from 7. And if they think people will pay(especially $120) to upgrade after they haven’t upgraded for free, I want some of the shit they’re smoking.

Nah. I’ll stick with 8.1. My SP4 runs 10, and it’s fine, I guess (since it came with 10), but for the laptop that I use to actually do work, I have no interest in upgrading.

As a tech, MS has pissed me off so much with their handling of the 10 upgrade. The OS is great (relatively speaking). The actual upgrade is fairly seamless most of the time, and you can’t beat the price of course. But... The tray icons and nag screens, OMG. How do you get to the size of MS and not realize how terrible

I don’t even want to use it for free.

Does this mean they’ll stop harassi...ehem...reminding those of us on Win 7 to upgrade? My Windows Media Center PC will never see Win 10 and I’m tired of dealing with the popup.

the technology will get exponentially better though. in 30 to 50 years its possible that robots will be capable of performing surgeries, from start to finish, with crisis handling built in. The rate of progress is only accelerating.

...Except if that were true you’d think it wouldn’t have failed to solve the damn chicken-wing caper. Unless that crime was perpetrated by some damn James Bond villain just to score a free lunch while working on his plot to take over the world, then it seems like the tech isn’t all that useful at all, just terribly

Counter-Counterpoint:
They can easily be abused, especially in the hands of local law enforcement who don’t take to kindly to the laws.

“Why, yes, they’re pissing all over my right to privacy, but, damn it, it’s for my own protection!” - said no one, ever.

How about an encryption device? You put the cards in, mix up the cube, then pull the tops or stickers to clean.

More impressed if it was a functional Rubics Cube and a RAID device.
