I have definitely heard plenty of “Lol, why don’t all those poor white people just go to college if they want out of poverty?” mostly from the center-left.

It’s how all inter-generational poverty is discussed. This is not a race issue. Poverty/upbringing has a much greater impact on outcomes than skin color or ethnicity. The children of affluent minorities will more than likely be affluent. The children of poor whites will more than likely remain poor.

In many places, this is exactly how white poverty is discussed.
