I came here to make the same joke, but you beat me to it.
I came here to make the same joke, but you beat me to it.
it’s not that suicides shouldn’t be counted it’s that it’s disingenuous to lump the two together because the causes are so radically different. Suicide is preventable through mental health treatment, crime is largely not. It’s also disingenuous to include suicides as a crime statistic on one hand and decry suicide…
Guns save more lives than they take by most reliable statistics— so it’s wrong to treat it as a matter of “more guns automatically is bad because it means more gun deaths”, without considering how many more crimes are prevented and lives saved either from death or irreparable trauma. It’s not a matter of guns…
the states could solve this in one law, they just need to pass a law that creates a method that includes due process protections and a proper standard of proof, and then they can take guns away all day long.
The problem is they don’t want to do that, they want to use a process that the courts have repeatedly ruled…
it’s high time for a rent strike. They can’t evict 200 million people, if even a quarter of renters participated it would be somewhere around 50 million people, the prospect of that would terrify the government and landlords.
because there’s no real alternatives, and someone who had to succeed is better than a career politician who has never been accountable for actually showing up to work let alone actually accomplishing things and is utterly mired in a apparatchik mindset.
as it should be, if a human being is editing and selecting then it’s no different than a writer using a reference library or google to look up facts and plot ideas. If the use of any assistance at all prohibited copyright then nothing could ever be copyrighted.
I was at gencon as well, if you want an on-demand ride that happens but I never, ever had an issue with scheduled rides, even if it was out to my hotel by the airport from the Lucasoil where I was running games.
the military can’t do that without repealing all the laws the prohibit federal money from going to abortions, or I am sure they would.
But if you can’t get the votes to protect abortion federally there’s no way in hell you’ll find them to pay for it.
I pay a premium for uber because I know they’ll show up reliably, drive safely, and not long-haul me or drive me around racking up the meter. And if they do something sketchy I have recourse.
I disagree entirely. Uber and Lyft (especially lyft) have a LOT on taxis. First you can get one any time. Second they actually show up (I have had taxis refuse dispatch or dispatchers straight up lie to me, leaving me stranded late at night, before).
I saw that a long time ago and it’s silly. I mean it’s a good sci/fi horror but it’s not realistic. It assumes that the best tech a government could develop to protect itself would be... fences on windows? No counter-drones, no directed energy weapons, no iron dome, they just let the drones reign free. terrorists will…
they’ve killed fewer people so far than driven cars. This article’s best example is they killed a single dog... taxi drivers cause crashes DAILY in most major cities through unsafe driving.
I find it odd how many people suddenly are cheering the FBI. Have we forgotten CONTELINTPRO? have we forgotten the harassment of civil rights leaders? We should be working WITH republicans that now are realizing the FBI has always, since its inception, been abusive and dangerous to democracy to dismantle them not…
it’s actually fairly common practice, I was delivered the same way. Luckily I only suffered some cranial compression and motor center damage, but once the baby is descending a cesarean is high risk and there may not be sufficient time to save the baby by that method— applying some degree of traction is very normal and…
it cuts both ways-- sure, don’t stick your dick in crazy; but don’t let crazy stick its dick in YOU either.
yup, a slick app and website do not magically make a commercial landlord into a tech company magically immune to commercial landlord concerns but possessing the magical properties of a tech startup.
There’s a lot of factors— first is how extreme, are you doing a little tweaking here and there or are you going for drastic, radical changes.
but that IS what they (warner brothers Japan) maintains, or at least the majority of their employees do, because that’s what’s taught in Japanese schools, and the official position of their government. It’s not “it wasn’t that bad” it’s “you have never been taught you made the world do this to you so stop acting…
exactly, they gave away the last purple heart printed in anticipation of the casualties from operation downfall (the invasion of the Japanese home islands) in **Afghanistan**. it took over 70 years to use them all and we anticipated those casualties in 2 years.
