The only flaw in this plan is that you bought a car from a coworker. Always dicey.

Also consider that while the study used the same passengers multiple times, the study cannot control which drivers showed up. A 5% difference could be explained by the driving style of the drivers (running yellow lights instead of stopping, average speed, etc). Perhaps drivers drove more conservatively with women…
The routes Uber suggests for drivers are rarely optimal routes, unless passengers would enjoy being dropped off on the side of the highway instead of at their actual destination near the highway.
So at the $1 per mile rate in my area, that’s an extra $.33 before Uber’s 25% cut. So the driver gets and extra $.25. That does seem catastrophic. What thieves!
A 5% difference in the route on a 1-2 mile ride will still make the trip a minimum fare ride, so the driver is getting nothing extra for the additional time it took.
You should see the routes Uber gives the drivers - they are truly bizarre. I usually ignore Uber’s map in favor of common sense.
Considering the study chose short routes to save money, the extra 5% distance probably made no difference in the fare collected.
My one and only reason for declining a ride or cancelling a ride is the distance I need to drive to the pick up location. If it’s too far away, I’m not going. I could care less what the passenger’s race or gender is.
Um, that kind of assumes that all Uber drivers are white males.
Huma was archiving her correspondence with Clinton by forwarding it to another Huma email account, which is what the FBI found on Weiner’s computer.
In a sick way his inappropriate relationship with a minor is turning out to be a great public service - by providing us yet more information (hopefully) about Clinton’s illegal activities. Weiner may go down as a hero
Well we can’t have it both ways on that one. The Republicans just spent several months blaming the FBI for favoring Clinton, now Democrats will accuse the FBI of trying to sabotage her campaign. Ugh.
The only question I have is how much more I am going to get
Back in the day, GM used to put “ABS” badges on vehicles equipped with anti-lock brakes. Not sure if it was supposed to be a warning to other drivers of a boast about a feature.
Dear lord, this still happens?! When I worked at a Ford/Lincoln/Mercury dealer, we got an Escape with Mariner tail lights once, and an Escape that said V6 on one side and Hybrid on the other.
He seems to be suggesting that we shouldn’t talk about actual issues at the debates - or even pretend to.
I love how in virtually all articles like this one, you can simply reverse the 2 names and the article reads exactly the same.
Autonomous cars running around a memorized (pre-mapped) track wouldn’t be any fun at all. What could be interesting is Level 5 autonomous cars running around an unfamiliar track with unexpected obstacles popping up to test their abilities. That would be a true test of whether we have the AI ready for the real world…
Not gonna lie. It’s got me looking. Get an extra $1500 if you’ve earned enough points on the GM Credit Card.
