Thank you! I am also an atheist who makes no assertions about whether a god exists. I just don’t believe or worship any of them.

Religion, particularly Christianity, has had it’s say for a very long time in this country. It’s only been for the last 20 years that it’s become ok to stand up and say that you hated being in a religion, that it made you feel “less than”, that your life is better without it.

Also, they’re sharp and pointy and probably slice up your throat.

Agreed. The movie footage conveyed tone, feeling, atmosphere. I had no problem deciding which was which.

Even by those standards, she’s not a WASP. She came up middle-class and hardworking. She did her own cooking and sewing and worked hard for a living. How is that a privileged WASP?

I think that was because they were making the strings out of a material that harbored bacteria. This is based on my very hazy memories of the 80's. I think that when they changed the string material, they stopped the TSS problem.

I had a copper IUD for 10 years and it was great. I decided against the Mirena because I didn’t want the hormone thing. Also, I left the strings full length instead of having them cut shorter. I have reasons for this that I won’t get into unless questioned, but I found it to be much better.

Great points! I wanted to add a little anecdote regarding Google Maps that happened to me last week. I was going to a new movie theater so I decided to use Google Maps to get me there. I drove down a major 4-6 lane road in Philly, Delaware Ave., when Google instructed me to do a u-turn and head in the opposite

Seriously! whose porch do I have to shit on to get out the greys around here?

There’s some people in Maine who are trying to build a carless city/village in Maine. They have great ideas. I’ve seriously thought about becoming an investor because it looks like it would be a great place to live/work/vacation.

Let me know the result. I get excited about cast iron!

I’ve cooked with cast iron my whole life, and my mother cooked with cast iron. We’ve tried a lot of different methods for cleaning/seasoning etc., but several years ago I learned the absolute best thing.

Reading was a Steel Town? This is surprising. I grew up in the Reading area and I never heard about steel. Steel was Allentown.

I was also surprised by this, and I grew up in Reading. Well, I had a Reading post office address; I actually grew up in the farm country around Reading. And it was always super cheap, but the poorest? Yeesh.

I totally agree with your summation and yet, my recollection of most of Phillip K. Dick books is that they do exactly the same thing. Very strong starters and then finishes with a slow, weird dribble where everyone turns out to be robots.

I absolutely love Minority Report, and I never thought it got enough respect.

Why do MRA trolls always always use women’s user names. As if we’re fooled.

One of the reasons I’ve always preferred Gawker Universe to HuffPo or other sites of that ilk, is because the writers for Gawker nearly always give a summary of the highlights of the video they’re writing about so I DON’T HAVE TO WATCH THE G-D VIDEO.
