As someone who works somewhere that ships lithium ion batteries a lot, they tend to be safer if the State of Charge is <20%. During a recent battery recall, we were required to drain batteries before shipment to under 20% SoC to prevent any possibility of thermal runaway. Apparently an lithium ion battery cannot

I used to work in a relatively small pub in London. We used CO2 and nitrogen as carbonation and lift gasses for the beer. CO2 can in in large tanks, the we had a nitrogen harvesting plant in the basement, not sure what process it used. If it’s cost effective for a pub, you can be pretty sure it’s not a particularly

barf bag time, if I wisely hadn’t skipped breakfast that day”

I remember when ATI, makers of video cards, didn’t own ati.com. I was owned by Artificial Turd Industries, purveyors of fake dog poop. They were kind enough to have a banner at the top of the site procaliming “This probably isn’t the ATI you’re looking for” with a link to the video card manufacturer.

English place names are especially bad. They were often first written down before there was a consistent way to write the sounds of English, then over the following years the way people say the place name has changed. I have no idea how anyone learns English as a second language, the grammar is so inconsistent and the

Interesting, I always assume that if I hear someone speaking absolutely perfect English with a slight accent, that they are Dutch. I remember an amusing time in the bar I used to work in. A Dutch patron came to the bar and asked for a Grolsch, pronouncing it exactly as an English person would. By his seventh pint, he

Yes, and whilst trying to work out how hard you would need to pull one, I found this thread:

I’m going with definition number three:

I’ve always wanted the opportunity, when asked the scale of a problem to say, this is “more of a switch SCE to aux than a main bus B undervolt”.

The funny thing about the expression “a poor craftsman blames his tools” is it’s so often misunderstood. A craftsman chooses and/or makes his tools and cares for them to keep them in good condition. It’s not about “here’s a rusty screwdriver, go make a chest of drawers from that raw lumber or you’re just a crappy

Whilst on the subject of misleading “bumpers”, I believe Ms. Jones is also worthy of further investigation.

Can confirm. I used to ride a motorcycle to work and rode past fields that had been fertilised with pig slurry. To paraphrase Kenny from the movie of the same name, that’s a smell that will outlast religion.

Its a good tip, as are those mentioning JIS below. Found a couple of images to help, I knew the Phillips - Pozidrive ID stuff, but not the JIS. Now time to quiet before some Kanuk starts ranting about Robertson.

During one of my first visits to Finland I was invited as a passenger for a little ice driving on the local frozen lake. I took up the offer an shortly found myself flying around on the ice in a beaten up old Mercedes 190.

I’m fortunate to live in a country where that doesn’t happen and you are correct. My friend installs gigabit fiber in central, rural Finland. Installation cost look a bit too high?. No problem, lay the fiber yourself and they’ll hook it up for you (on your own land, of course).

Sometimes using rubber conditioner / cleaner on the bottom seal of the window can help as this is where the ice tends to accumulate and stick. I’ve had limited success with this and apparently different brands are better than others.
