Myles, first off — thanks for the very kind response to my grumpy reply to your recap. I’ve really loved the show and found the adaptation to be pretty terrific, but that also doesn’t mean that everyone needs to agree with me. I fell into the trap of “Whyyyy don’t you like it tooooo?” Apologies. Especially for the

I’ve already been so stressed and upset at the rift between Veronica and Weevil, so this killed me. I really want them to work it out by the end. I’ve always loved how they are always there for each other.

I’m the reverse. I love Logan as a character because he is — in the beginning — an entitled, selfish douchebag. But he’s also a damaged, hurting, grieving, and abused douchebag who is capable of real heroism and kindness, so I’ve liked his journey from S1 Veronica Mars through the years, and especially have enjoyed

I’m with you on this. I’m absolutely staggered that I was just spoiled on a major plot point — and they aren’t even sorry about it.

Seriously??? I’m going through these episode by episode. I cannot believe you just spoiled me like this. You’ve been on every episode discussion, so don’t be coy about “it’s six months old.” You knew ABSOLUTELY that you’d be spoiling viewers who come here episode by episode.

Just... not cool. I still can’t believe you

I just bingewatched the entire series again (1-3) the past week or two, to prepare, and am finally watching this really satisfying season.

I’ve loved it so far — I hate seeing Keith so vulnerable, and Veronica so locked away and cynical, but that’s always who she was on the road to becoming. So I think it’s 100%

This is my main issue with far too many reviews on this site (which I love regardless). But it’s true that here, something can get an A rating and you’d never know it from the headline or actual review, which is invariably all about whatever the reviewer picked out as negative.

I had the same issues with the HIS DARK

Thank you for these wonderful recaps — I’ve enjoyed them all!

Favorite quote: “Annoy, tiny blonde one! Annoy like the wind!”

Question: For a show that has consistently averaged a B or higher overall rating, why is there such a disparity between the grades and critiques in the actual reviews themselves? You consistently focus on the negatives, and so rarely on the positives, that there’s a disconnect between the ratings—a B is historically a

I know I’m chiming in a year late here, but Lyra spends all of episodes one and two shouting to anyone who will listen that she wants to go North, that it’s all she’s dreamed of (and we even see it covering her entire bedroom wall). Episode one ends with her weeping and literally begging Asriel to take her with him.

Great analysis Myles, although I don’t understand why you’re so focused on the show’s choice to layer the storytelling, especially in terms of the multiverses. We already know in Chapter 1 that there are other worlds, and so does Lyra — we see Asriel’s picture of it. So I’m confused that you’re seeing this as a huge

I know it’s been 7 years since anyone commented here, but what the heck, I had to do it. Thank you, Donna, for these beautiful analyses, and most of all, for your literate and thoughtful looks at who these characters are (and why Sorkin’s work here is so worthwhile and even undervalued). On a personal note, while I

Still Dan!

I love all of our main characters on Sports Night — even Jeremy, whose constant snide condescension and cruelty have not aged well for me (he used to be my favorite long, long ago, but wow, not anymore).

But Danny will always be my favorite. I love Dan Rydell, and he remains one of my favorite fictional characters

Cut Man, I second those who will miss you so much in these replies.

Meanwhile:

We’ll have more with Chuck ‘The Cut Man’ Kimmel coming up in just a moment, but for now: I’m Dan Rydell alongside Casey McCall, and if you’re still watching, please give us a call and tell us why...”

Donna, I know this is RIDICULOUS years later, but revisiting this show that I adored so much, and seeing it through your eyes and through these discussions, has been an absolute joy. If you ever come back and visit — thank you so much. And thank you to the other commenters. For me, this show will always be Sorkin’s
