It depends. In the English language vowel-consonant-vowel usually make the first vowel long. Camera is an exception to this rule, but it depends. You say "cam - ur - uh" for that, but "cuh - mare - oh" for Camaro, similar words vowel-consonant wise but usually said very differently.
