“I wonder if it’s just something in broader human psychology, part of how we build our self-image.”
“I wonder if it’s just something in broader human psychology, part of how we build our self-image.”
Plenty of others have clocked the deep similarities between hoteps and the MAGAts.
I can’t remember who said it, but I remember reading someone saying that after Obama became President, the standards for being President would reduce dramatically.
The dumbest thing about the article is this: Since when does saying popular men should face consequences for harassment *help* your career?
I wonder if this is because POCs only apply when they know they’re qualified, whereas white people just think “ah fuck it, close enough”.
“Both sides are hurting. I was a racist, but you called me a racist”.
Do you have any idea how much of an asshole you sound like right now? Probably not, which is part of the problem.
I disagree with this. This is like saying Ella Baker and Bull Connor are the same because they both criticised MLK’s leadership.
It’s kind of funny how so many are like “well, we’d love to do something about all the sexual harassment, but this guy is irreplaceable”. Then they’re actually forced to do something and guess what? He’s not. They never are.
True. It’s kind of amazing how his election has all been blamed on “hilbillies” and “white trash” when his real base is in Silicon Valley.
I agree with most of this list, but He Got Game is trash when it should have been an easy layup. I still can’t believe he screwed that one up.
“also he willing acquiesced the mic to BLM protesters when they rightly challenged him about his lack of racial justice policy?”
It’s not that he’s compromising too much either, it’s the issues he compromises on. Issues that don’t effect white working class men. Between that and a lot of his statements, it’s pretty clear that it’s everyone else to the back of the line for him.
“So because in the past populist left us out means we’re supposed to turn our back on populist ideas rather than making sure said populist ideas include us?”
“This isn’t a thing that is particular to one man. Bernie Sanders didn’t invent this concept.”
It seems to me like she has. She wrote a book, which was far less “bitter” than most people say, and has shown no indication she’ll be running for anything.
I’d love them to embrace new ideas and not recycle candidates. That includes Bernie Sanders.
The point is that implementing “populist” economic policies always help white people (especially men) first (and usually only) unless you specifically account for racism and sexism. And that’s what people are criticising Bernie for; his laser focus on a very specific demographic while acting like everyone else are…
Gee, I can’t wait until 2020 when Bernie and Trump are both running for President and both of them are campaigning against Hillary Clinton, who’ll be off in the woods somewhere. That’ll be awesome.
Which people criticised her heavily for and probably cost her the nomination. So what’s your point?
