I think everyone sentinent already knew that “freeze peach” is really just a cudgel for racists/sexists/homophobes to bully those with an obsession with “fairness” and “both sides” into listening to their bull*(&( and that they don’t actually believe it.

I think it’s just demographics. No Black politician along the lines of those two will ever get anywhere near Capitol Hill because a large part of their appeal is racial grievances against white people, who hate them.

White people generally support the social safety net up until the point where Black people start to benefit from it. Then it’s bad.
