It is pretty sad. You’d think common sense would be common, but as we’ve seen over the past year or so...that’s not the case anymore for most people.

Yeah, for sure. I think some other repliers will think I’m saying that arresting the boy was the right thing to do, but obviously I am not. My point was that getting pissed at these police officers is misplaced. They were literally just doing their jobs.

It is, though. The police had a warrant to arrest him. They weren’t probably in on getting the warrant. That would have been someone else. It’s like if a guy has a bench warrant out for skipping bail. The police go get him and he can have all the excuses in the world for why he missed court-appointed appointments, but

Oh, sure, I’m rather surprised that the “educator” reported it and then that the warrant was actually granted.

So, you think cops should be able to arbitrarily decide when to not enforce an arrest warrant when given to them? Yeah, let’s set *that* precedent. I have no idea how you think this is the “same kind” of both examples at all, honestly. They were literally just doing their jobs.

The problem here is people want the police to simultaneously have the power to decide whether to act, but also not. If you give them too much leeway, we end up with unarmed black people being killed. If we reign them in and have to follow the law to the letter, then they have to arrest ten year old autistic kids

These things are great. I have one in my bedroom (can only afford one. They’re great, but expensive) and they also tie into a smart home system. I have Wink and it works perfectly. The remote that comes with it is handy, too. I have it stuck to my nightstand for easy reach.

Okay, I certainly feel for the guy and am angered at the disgusting bigotry of those people, but seriously, carry conceal is allowed in Memphis. If the guy didn’t have a CCW, then whether the zoo allows guns or not is moot since the guy broke the law. Hell, even if he DOES have a CCW, he broke the law by brandishing

It’s already at the bottom. That arrogant “take the higher road” stuff hasn’t done a single thing to stop Trump. Sometimes you need to meet them in the mud to get anything done. It is possible to be so high up that they sneak under you.

Again, they “suspected” they were drugs. It stands to reason, if someone is willing to take sips of it, that maybe they were wrong about it being liquid drugs. They only didn’t release him because he started to get more and more nervous after sipping the liquid, so sent him to secondary inspection where he finally

Trump doesn’t respect the office. Why should I?

Well, how the hell am I supposed to know what a “16 year old running drugs” would know? I’ve never run drugs. I do know if I /were/ running drugs, I’d sure fucking know about the drugs I was transporting.

Well, I would certainly have known and I haven’t, you know, ever even done drugs before. Pretty sure it’s rather common sense that drinking a liquid drug would be bad for you.

If that’s not part of procedure, then, yeah, they should. I never said what they did was right, either. But, for me, if it’s a choice between drinking drugs or admitting they’re drugs, I’ll just admit they’re drugs.

I would have as opposed to drinking meth. But, then...I wasn’t an idiot as a 16-year old. But, hey, much better to not hold “adolescents” accountable for anything.

Or maybe they didn’t think he’d actually drink liquid meth and would give himself up, realizing he was caught.

Yeah, while transporting drugs across the border. Where he could have just admitted they were drugs when he got caught.

I mean...not to be an asshole, but...I mean...you know, he chose to drink it instead of giving himself up and admitting it was drugs. Nothing about this sounds like he was “forced” to do it other than the fact that he insisted it was juice and they asked him to prove it, assuming he wouldn’t drink a liquid drug right

So....

Honestly, that makes it more racist, in my opinion. That means that the word is on his lips even when NOT talking about black people. Why would that word just be so readily available in his brain?
