@junior ghoul: There are even weirder examples, check out the 1995 Thompson experiment on evolved circuits, where he used a FPGA to evolve a signal frequency discriminator without a clock circuit or anything... it took 2800 generations to produce glitching behaivour, and at 4100 it was perfect.
