I drive a 2003 matrix xrs, which is, for all intents and purposes, a Camry with a hatch. I love it, both as a jalop and as a dude who needs to get to work every day.

I’mma say the more obscure the automotive reference, the more acceptable. I know that’s very hipster-y, but I think the hipster is on to something here.

Not to mention the holy Grail of diesel electric hybrids.

Part of my frustration is that if legislators actually cared about emissions, they would have legislated diesel fuel itself. Compression ignition engines have drastically different emissions depending on what they’re burning. Your emissions from peanut oil are going to be different than kerosene, but diesels can burn

The shipping industry and the airline industry (jet fuel, rather, but the small private planes are moving to diesels because they can burn jet A and they’re cleaner than burning leaded gas).

Most of the manufacturers have been cheating. And VW has been lobbying, but the strength of their lobby versus GM or other American appreciate like special interest groups is small (see: the chicken tax)

Define “truck”. If you’re talking about light trucks, then *ahem* bullshit. Most states are just now getting around to outlawing rolling coal.

Diesel is only dying because it’s being killed. Truck diesels are flourishing, while passenger diesels have effectively been legislated out of existence to ease competition on American manufacturers.

See: “speed traps”

Our emissions for passenger diesel is moronic and applies a double (triple?) standard to passenger vehicles, while giving trucks, aviation and industrial diesel (or jet fuel) emissions a pass. All because...why? Passenger cars make up a tiny fraction of diesel emissions and always will, even if the whole of our

Yeah, until they make one that is demonstrably cheaper, more versatile, and more fun, I’ll stick with the stick.

This. I’m actually really excited to see how fast this is on the track. The only time I can think of when you’re on a really low grip situation on a track (for acceleration) is low speed turns (eg hairpins) and possibly in the wet. But in everything else, the AWD is mostly superfluous.

Holy crap. 1/4 mile for dsg? .2 seconds is driver error differential. DSG would almost certainly put it under 13.4

So glad that three years after being freed from the brainwashing and tyranny of Jean Jennings they’re finally able to realize just how oppressed us men really are. I’m glad you were able to pick up on the progressive and daring foresight of the Automobile management as they lead us towards a magazine the likes of

And as an example, I spent an afternoon learning and was far from confident (still grinding gears). And i DD a six speed.

I can attest that deriving a ten speed isn’t just driving a normal manual with another set of gears. Iirc, you don’t clutch to shift, and you have to time it just right or the gears grind

And only 500 of those are dlc!

I wonder if we could get the goat simulator guys to build us a camel racing game.

That feeling when you think your friend is dead. At least, in this case, he was able to replace that feeling with “he’s not dead”.

WOW. This is a very very thorough build. Anyone know what class this will run? Will it be competitive? Or is this just a really really expensive toy?
