"Blackness allowed Shonda Rhimes to create a 120 second-long scene unlike anything we’ve ever seen on television before."

It's not that the personal experiences of you or the other writers are not relevant or productive to the discussion, but the way in which you all treat the subject matter is devoid of even the most basic of historical context. The Looney Tunes canon itself was not devoid of historical antecedent or inspiration as even

"It’s very Good Wife to send out a huge “fuck you” to its cable competitors in the form of a subtle, elegant card that could be mistaken for a wedding invitation. Is it tacky? Sure."

As a huge fan of Person of Interest and TGW who has championed BOTH shows from their debut episodes, TGW wins HANDS down as not only CBS' best drama, but the best drama on all broadcast and — as much as I am a fan of most of the shows on the cable (and Netflix list ("House of Cards" is AWESOME)) — the entire

Is this the episode where Finch & Reese actually reverse roles? Reese (and to an extent Shaw) now believe in The Machine more than Finch, where Finch now has complete doubts.

"As for why Looney Tunes can get away with it, I’m not sure."

"The dated nods to old-school stars and outmoded slang are part of the charm."

That wasn't THE topic, but rather an offshoot of an offshoot of an offshoot.

I disagree. 2 Broke Girls is juvenile, crass, obvious, as subtle as being hit on the head by a banana peel wrapped around a gold brick. BUT…underneath all of that, it has a great big heart that it wears on its sleeve.

Wow, do you understand the definition of "context"? One of these things is not like the other…

Re MAN OF STEEL: "Why, for instance, are we supposed to care that (SPOILER ALERT) Superman kills Zod at the end when he has spent the previous 40 minutes completely demolishing Metropolis, presumably killing a good portion of its inhabitants?"

You got your characters wrong: Fusco is Harvey Bullock and Shaw is Huntress. Zoe is Selina Kyle/Catwoman.

I could swear the opening sequence was a visual tribute to the Comedian's funeral sequence in Zack Snyder's "Watchmen" (which has its many detractors, but which I think is greatly misunderstood and underrated).

I truly don't know what to make of Phil Nyess-Nugent's "reviews/recaps." While he seems to like the show and looks at it, he doesn't appear to actually watch it or pay attention. For example:
