Cooder seemed to make good friends everywhere. He made some wonderful collaborations with Flaco Jimenez, whom you can call the grandfather of Conjunto music.
Back in the 70's Ry Cooder came to Hawaii to learn more about slack key guitar and hooked up w/ the godfather himself of the genre, Gabby Pahinui.
