I find it odd how this surprises people. Even if it had a bit of a slow start the console still turns 4 this year. I think it would be far weirder if Sony wasn’t gearing up for the next system at this point. Most consoles have their next iteration come out about 6 years into their lifecycle. That means PS6 was more…
“nothing from Sony on the horizon.”
I think this was carefully worded misdirection. The didn’t mention anything regarding new first party IP - just existing IP. I think there’s some surprises in store for the back half of this year.
Seems to check out. This should roughly be the halfway point for the generation, if not the back half. I’m also excited. The back half of a PS life cycle has some of the best games of a generation.
Sure, we can dismiss those examples as being successful despite their genre but the fact remains that they were successful.
Yup. Sony is killing it with single player games like TLOU, GoW, Spider-Man and more. BG3 and others as well sell like crazy. This entire article is clickbait. EA made another poor game, end of story.
$125m for a game like this is crazy. Should have been $60m max.
Yeah the takeaway from this is NOT that single player games are in trouble. There were lots of other potential reasons (aside from quality) why this failed:
I mean, I think the game didn’t do to well because it looked boring as hell and EA didn’t go that hard with promoting it.
Aren’t single player games thriving right now? The issue may be more major publishers caring more about shareholders than gamers
The development cost was around $85 million, and I think EA kicked in $40 million for marketing and distribution.
I wouldn’t mind if it were just a minute before a show. But nope, they’re intercutting shows with ads, too. As you might imagine, there is no attempt to logically place the ads within the shows, so they often cut in right in the middle of a scene. It’s...not awesome. But I refuse to give Bezos any more of my money for…
For a good example of why Yellow Paint may be necessary, watch a Streamer play the We Sing level of Alan Wake 2.
Eh, he might be too busy sexually assaulting someone, harassing someone, or calling in a bomb threat.
They’re back too.
Yeah, this is pretty much what I expected. I remember them saying at one point that the game was about sailing and there would be no on foot stuff including combat. What’s the point then? Sure the sailing was fun but no one wants to be a boat, they want to be a pirate!
Out of context, the above interaction could be read as Johnson simply not understanding meme culture, which is totally fair.
what is up with this trend of just recycling an article from another site on this network? i see that technically, the title and subtitle are changed...i guess that’s enough to be “different”
11/20 were right, it’s got the accuracy of a coin flip, who would have possibly thought?
