Well they’ve already broken from comic canon a number of times now (such as comic Andrea being badass while TV Andrea was a whiny waste of skin) so no one knows where it is really going.

The biggest takeaway here, in my estimation, is the fact that they owned up to it. Mistakes happen, and this one was clearly embarrassing, but much better to own it than look for a scapegoat.
