Amen to that. What really bugs me about the new movies is how they elevate Kirk to god-like status. He proves to be totally incompetent at command, yet they just keep giving him important things to do, all because his dad assumed command for like 5 minutes and enabled his crew to escape before crashing his starship

Don’t even get me started. Now I’ve served in a military organization in one of my former past lives, and Starfleet, as represented in ST09, was hands down the WORST depiction of a military organization I’ve ever seen in film. I mean come on, a CADET tells a higher ranking officer to re-assign them to the flag ship

Worst thing about the version of the trope that plays out in Star Trek is that the movie keeps using coincidence to bring characters from the original series together, which is framed as some sort of unavoidable fate or destiny trope. I don’t know how my eyes survived such continuous eye rolling.

Am I misogynist if I think Wiig and McCarthy are unfunny and that this movie is going to be a piece of shit? Does that automatically make me misogynist?

So an objetive (negative) comment on a movie, is misogynist just because the main cast are females? Well then I was 1/5th misogynist with the Fantastic Four movie I suppose. Sorry.

Let’s see who’s the first person who may disagree with ruining a classic movie to promote a political agenda so we can sit and say: “see, I knew someone was going to disagree! Now my small brain can place a label on that person to objectify so that I can go on with my day after I dismiss them.”

Can you let us know the guidelines for who is a misogynist and who isn’t? I need to know if I am allowed to express my concerns for this movie. Sounds like no one is allowed to else they be labeled a misogynist.

It’s a total bullshit setup. “Look at our movie. It’s all girls. Girl power. Yay girls. And if you hate it

There’s misogyny and there’s having decades of association/attachment to characters being portrayed a certain way (by certain actors, even). You do yourself and feminism a disservice to intimate that any reservations toward this reboot is “misogyny” from “assholes” and “haters”.

Hating this movie has NOTHING to do with Misogyny, and everything to do with the fact that Ghostbusters was a perfect movie, and DID not need to be remade. So screw your assumptions.

So just because I find Melissa McCarthy annoying and not funny I’m a misogynist? Making it ALL women seems like a casting stunt, and the “all male” version they’re talking about sounds dumb for the same reason. I was totally for the mixed-gender version they were talking about.

I’m totally all for women celebrating finally getting an more equal share of the pie. I am a little curious though what the reaction would be if this picture was gender swapped.

Just to be clear, I was genuinely praising you. I really thought that you had handled the situation very well. Most people would take the bait and get emotional when trying to debate, losing focus and any traction that they may have gained in the process. Like I said, I’m not knowledgeable in this subject matter, but

THIS! And when he pops back up after being flattened. I remember watching Roger Rabbit and Child’s Play at about the same time (my grandparents let my 10 year old sister and my 6 year old self rent them thinking they were children’s movies) and Roger Rabbit was BY FAR the scarier movie.

FUCK YOU. That was something I didn't even know I had forgot on until you excavated it like a zombie from my repressed childhood. You are the true villain here.

Holy shit, man. You just unlocked some serious repressed childhood trauma.

Now playing

This dude freaked me the fuck out as a kid...

I don’t know about “Horror” villains but I know who scared all of us.

No, The Flash starts out with an altered timeline from the get-go. The moment that The Man in the Yellow Suit (yes, I’m being vague in case anyone here hasn’t seen the show yet) appears in the past and does certain things, the timeline is altered from that point on. You could conceivably argue that Arrow is an altered
