Rodriguez is definitely the ex. She said something to the effect that her ex sold the films they did together to her rapist, she did 3 films with Rodriguez, and 2 of them (Planet Terror and Death Proof) ended up being distributed by Dimension Films, which is owned by the Weinstein Company.

I kind of thought it was refreshing that there wasn’t an excuse. People knew and did nothing because they just didn’t.

I’m 100% convinced he’s admitting to it because there’s a chance that if Mira does any follow up interviews there’s a chance it will come out that she told him which goes against his original shock at the allegations.

In the full NYTimes interview, he says he fucked up and that there was too much $$ to be made at the time.

Haha it’s a real-life emoticon shrug (just a... human shrug? I guess?)

That’s what I thought but ever since the scandal broke we’ve had many celebrities claiming they had no idea and had never heard of Weinstein being a creep. It got so that I was wondering if I’d misremembered hearing gossip about him for years. I thought that perhaps it was some other producer I was mixing him up with.

Refreshing how? He admitted he knew and didn’t care. He only said if he were a better person he’d done something about it, but didn’t. He perpetuated it. Is this how low the bar is?

I think he kind of says “...because I was a shitty person.”

Who would have thought that Quentin Tarantino would be the first person to admit he knew Weinstein was crossing the line and he should have been a better person and not worked with him?

he was in Baby Mama

Original host of Talk Soup on E!

I only know his name because of Parks and Recreation.

YES. Sure, daddy issues exist and sure, some young women date older guys, but CHILDREN OF SCHOOL GOING AGE DO NOT WANT YOUR WRINKLY BALLS. And on the off chance that they’re riddled with issues and they do direct their tidal wave of hormones towards you, you are the adult man who should keep his grubby little fingers

I was even into old dudes as a teen, and for sure NOT John Malkovich or Larry David types. It’s not just old dudes, it’s decrepit, kinda fug, self satisfied old dudes. Also, I was stupid.

Seriously, by all appearances, this movie is peak Male Gaze. Like, HOLY CRAP SO MANY LAYERS OF MALE GAZE. I think he thinks he invented the angel/whore complex? I could probably go my whole life without hearing the musings of even one more ~overprotective dad~ and be just fine, thank you.

“Temporarily shelve it”? He’d be wise to can it.

Why shelve it just temporarily? Why not just burn it in some dark pit?

I’m of the view there’s no appropriate time to release a film like this and maybe we can stop making films that pedal the fantasy that any teenage girl would be interested in gross older guys altogether. The fantasy is entirely ONE-SIDED.

It seems about as well thought out as My Father The Hero being directed by Woody Allen.

I can’t think of worse timing for a release about the sexual shadiness of a filmmaker, done by someone who has been repeatedly accused of sexual misconduct, during a time rife with sexual misconduct throughout the entertainment industry.
