What he’s leaving out is that the EV fee is only a max of $175 in CA based on the value of your vehicle.
Overall CA renewal fees are tied to the original price of your vehicle.
Mine was $300 last month for a 7 yr old ICE vehicle, so his EV is both newer and more expensive than mine.
