Yeah, I get why people who make these and legends like Attenborough want to put these messages in, but they make these shows unwatchable for me. And I already care deeply about environmental issues and saving wildlife so it isn’t like watching sad dying animals is going to make me more committed.

I’m glad that this adaptation is going back to the original source’s romance between Cora and Uncas, which the movie retooled to a Cora/Hawkeye romance with Alice/Uncas in the background.  Granted, following the novel probably does mean that there will be a bummer ending for this love story.  

Actually,  I bet a decent number of CMT viewers know the movie is mocking them.  Satirical humor is often most embraced by the audience that it is making fun of.  

I am listening to a story on NPR right this minute that mentioned Justin Fairfax’s rape accusations in a story on the Biden situation, as if they are somehow close to equivalent. When I hear that crap, I get why my otherwise liberal mother is getting so angry at some of the reporting on Biden. I can’t stand Maher, but…

I think that country is increasingly picking up the mantle from rock, an increasingly obscure genre, as good time, guitar-driven party music. And there’s a place for that - I like a lot of this type of country music. But the more serious songs by Musgrave and other ladies don’t fit in as well as they used to.

The lack of instruments is likely what got this song off the charts. In light of rock’s decline, Country music is one of the few instrument driven popular music genres left. For instance, my uncle is in an amateur country group with 12 people playing instruments, including three guys on bass.

I’ve heard speculation that she may die in Endgame and the movie would be a prequel (which is likely would at least partly be regardless of her living or not). That said, her dying in Endgame seems like it would lessen audience interest at least a little.

That makes sense, though it is interesting that Russian actors or even Americans of Russian descent almost never play Russian roles and nobody ever complains about it. Or maybe they do in Russia and nobody cares in the U.S.

I think the folks responding here are being a little too trusting of her account. Maybe this was a case of revenge porn but it seems just as likely that she sent the picture to a student who circulated the picture. That could be the story the school district would have told but they legally aren’t allowed to comment…

She’ll have a hard time proving this. Netflix as a company offers good benefits but is very upfront about firing employees who are not at the absolute peak of performance. They have a lot of turnover and it should be easy for them to demonstrate that some area of her performance was lacking, even if only a little bit.

Why not go where the people are? A lot of celebs have lines via Walmart that make mega bucks for them. And not all Walmarts are gross hellholes; there are actually some clean ones near me with decent service (the rest are gross hellholes, however).

As a substitute teacher, I wouldn’t have tried to intervene between two students fighting and the schools wouldn’t have wanted me to. I am not sure if regular teachers were expected to break up fights but I suspect there were only a limited number of staff/teachers authorized to do so. 

I’ll be curious to see if Auger-Aliassime has what it takes to finally be the Next Gen guy who breaks through.  In the meantime, can he face the serving might of Tiebreak King John Isner, who he is playing next?

I’m an adjunct at two schools and it does suck to some extent.  It still beats the office jobs that I’ve had. I can make a modest living through my five-six classes a semester, but I realize that I am relatively lucky.

Is it worth doing the right thing when you present bills that are doomed to fail every time?  Politics is the art of the possible and keeping ideals is great but a good politician should have some actual accomplishments to point to.  

I won’t deny that some people have had bad side effects from this, but I took Accutane when I was 20 and it cured my persistent acne forever with no negatives involved. I will always be grateful for this wonder drug and wish I had used it sooner.
