Seconding the thin layers in wool, silk or synthetics. I've lived in western mass, and those things kept me toasty. I would like to add cashmere, especially sweaters, if you can afford it. They are super soft and so warm!

Thank you for the short-girl jeans lead. I've reluctantly been wearing skinny jeans because they don't drag, but I much prefer breathing room for my calf.
Oh gods this! I've given up on button-up shirts and blouses. And if I have to wear one, I basically have to have a tailor remake it to fit me.
Pepperberry sounds like something I should consider. I'm shaped like a light bulb: busty with smaller hips.
A Cyberman so that I can delete all my emotions.
I've had good luck with the kiddo (who sucks her lips) of using the neosporin lip balm in a pot. Three night later miraculous healed lips. During the day or night too if you want Vaseline! Not just for sorority girls!
I'd love the break downs on which products are worth it vs. good drug store ones.
Favorite nuWho companion by far!
That female mice are no more variable than male mice in certain aspects makes them suitable for the basic research. This is a good counter-argument against those 'pesky hormonal cycles'. The more important idea that the NIH is addressing is that throughout the history of biomedical research the male has been assumed…
It is also possible to remove the ovaries and provide back hormones to control for such things.
Having worked with female mice and rats, I'm so happy to see this. And now that I'm working directly on sex differences, I can only say that I hope this money goes to people who really know what they are doing.

I know some people with PhDs who do work those types of jobs. Education or advanced degrees do not equal a guarentee of the job I'm trained/training for.
I agree. I like Pike's mix of sci-if, fantasy and horror. Even now, I tend to avoid pure horror.
So very chilling and terrifying
This totally sounds like the 'quiet expression of free speech' the Supreme Court used to overturn MA's buffet zone laws. /sarcasm.
i'd post the 'that's enough internet' gif
I had my kiddo during grad school. My mentor also had a kiddo while I was in grad school. Being pregnant and out for leave did slow me down, but by the time I'm facing tenure (which may be never as I'm still a post-doctoral scholar), my kiddo will probably be a teenager. But here's the thing, my adviser and…
It is time to get serious about mental diseases - that is what they are the diseases of the mind and brain. For the longest time, we have been treating symptoms because that is how these diseases have been defined. Tom Insel, the director of the National Institutes of Mental Health, has made it a priority to…
I have been a long time lurker before finally getting an account to comment (mostly on science posts), but I'd gladly go to the greys to prevent this ordeal. It's frankly unacceptable for you as a staff and for me as a reader.
