Hands up if you think Rock knew she was sporting the clean look due to a medical condition.

So, don’t give him a headline, Exhibit A in how much the AV Club has gone downhill. Seriously, what are you good at that caused you to get a job writing?

You could pin this comment at the top of every Barsanti article and it would apply.

Is Barsanti staying on after all his other AVC colleagues were forced out or quit in solidarity?

Has everyone lined up to present their hot take on the Will Smith/Chris Rock thing from The Oscars? No need to get into separate groups for who you think is right or wrong, we’ll just be going through the entire population of the planet alphabetically to ensure both that everyone gets to throw in their two cents

The tone of this post sucks. Fuck off, man.

Jim Carrey weighed in because he was asked about it. 99.9 % of these stories about celebs weighing in on things (are Marvel movies cinema/Oscars slap, whatever) is because they’re asked about it on press junkets to generate headlines...like the one Carrey’s doing for Sonic 2. But you know this.

You know, it occurs to me that if you don’t think that a celebrity’s response to something is particularly noteworthy, then you have the option to simply NOT REPORT ON IT. This weird sort of unearned condescending snark may be Barsanti's trademark, but I'll be damned if I can understand why it's something that the GMG

I read Dave Grohl’s book earlier this year, it seems like Kurt Cobain’s death still sticks with him and he must feel even more terrible now to have lost a second bandmate.

I understand that life in a rock band generally entails some combination of drugs and alcohol, but at some point shouldn’t the surviving band

We’re about on schedule for Cruise to take a cocky pool-hustler under his wing.

Top Gun 2 coming out 25 years after the first one is why it’s not so weird (if no less boring) that aging comics make GI Jane jokes.

…what the hell is “merit” when it comes to ratings? People are watching or they’re not, regardless of the reason.

Jesus. Cry me a river.

“I’m gonna slap Chris Rock. That’ll show people just how masculine I am and totally stop those rumors about my sexuality!” ~Will Smith, probably

At least Will Smith responded immediately, instead of sitting on this for years, getting elected, and ruining the country.

It’s one of those quotes that sounds profound when uttered by a character.  Like when a villain meets the hero in a movie and says “We are not so different, you and I.”  It’s profound and its duality and its writerly, but it’s bunk.

It’s like the banners I see hanging in pictures of Crossfit gyms: “PUNISH YOUR WEAKNESS.” So maybe Jedis are their own kind of Nazis.

Phyllis addresses this early on.  She says this is what science is. Trying and failing at stuff, over and over.

That scene where Phyllis breaks down all the logical reason why you can’t carry around a multi chemical dispensing patch in all temperatures and environments and then just breaks it down and says ok say you could physically do this... people don’t want a computer injecting them with drugs, was outstanding. She goes

This takes me back to a time when Theranos was still in the news, and AV Club still wrote up reviews/recaps of most TV shows.
