The game was designed to be played in French. The VA in the French version is stellar. Plus, many of the things that make sense in French as a language sound kind of janky in English. At the very least, I'd say play it with subtitles on.

Well, it also allows for tons of resource intensive optimization. You can turn off neighboring lot rendering, and turn trees and reflections down a smidge, and the game will run like a peach. That said, with everything at max, my computer can barely pull 30 fps playing the game, and my rig is a beast.
